Meet the Therapists

yoohoo therapy provides bespoke, specialist and expert support for families, nurseries and schools. We are here to give children a helping hand with their speech, language and/or communication skills.

Our therapists are highly trained experts in helping children with speech, language and communication needs. They can assist those who are struggling to use correct sounds for consonants and vowels. Our therapists offer support and guidance for children who find remembering and understanding what has been said a challenge. They can help those who are having difficulties with word finding, using vocabulary and building sentences. Our therapists will promote systems and strategies to encourage attention & listening, social skills, play and general interaction.

Intervention ranges from informal and formal assessment, 1:1, group therapy sessions, training, programmes of intervention and reports.

Our therapists, Suzanne and Lucy, blend a down-to-earth approach with a combined 30 years clinical experience and are known for their passionate and tailor-made presentation styles that engage children, parents, teachers and assistants alike.

Hi, I’m Suzanne.

image of suzanne from yoohoo speech and developmentI graduated from The University College of St Mark and St John in 2000 and have since worked in a range of settings developing hands-on-therapy approaches.

From 2000 to 2011 I worked as an NHS speech and language therapist in Kent. On leaving the NHS, I continued to work within one special school as their named therapist for another 5 years.

From 2007 I began working as an Independent speech and language therapist. Initially I worked on my own as a sole trader. However, as my business expanded and demand increased I created yoohoo Speech and Language Therapy Ltd to ensure I could offer help to more families.

I have a BA (Hons) in Human Communication Studies. I am a member of The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice. I am also registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

I am fanatical about finding ways of sharing my skills with all. I am passionate about empowering parents, teachers, and assistants in helping their children with speech, language and communication problems. I provide consultations, training and design practical applicable speech, language and communication resources.... and I also find time to look after my own little brood!

So, if you are looking for therapy and/or advice for your child or a student at your school, why not say yoohoo to Suzanne.

Hi, I’m Lucy.

image of lucy from yoohoo speech and developmentI graduated in 1998 with a BSc in Speech Sciences, and I am currently registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Since graduating, I have worked as a Speech & Language Therapist in many different client settings and have particular experience with pre-school and primary school aged children.

I left the NHS in November 2014 to join yoohoo therapy as an associate therapist, where I feel I can really be the therapist I trained to be. It also gives me a better work-life balance which I am sure, enables me to be a better therapist.

I absolutely love my work and I’m passionate about helping children reach their communication potential. I try to deliver therapy in a child-centred, fun way and enjoy sharing my skills with parents and education staff to empower them to continue to facilitate the child’s progress. I love experiencing the excitement that a child and their parent feels when they achieve a new skill and look forward to helping many more families in the future.
